Shereef makes music from the space between nostalgia and reinvention. Rooted in psychedelic folk, garage rock and the hazy spirit of the late ’60s, his songs feel both familiar and difficult to place — sun-faded melodies, loose guitars and understated production colliding with something distinctly modern.
There’s a romanticism to Shereef’s work, but never one that feels polished or overly precious. His music leans into texture, atmosphere and imperfection, drawing as much from the character of a recording as the song itself. Guitars blur at the edges, melodies linger, and arrangements unfold with the unhurried confidence of someone more interested in creating a world than simply filling a track.
That sense of world-building has made Shereef an increasingly distinctive presence within Cardiff’s independent music scene. In 2024, he appeared at Sŵn Festival, placing his leftfield take on psych-alt-folk songwriting within one of Wales’ most important showcases for emerging music.
It’s music with dust on the record sleeve — but its eyes are firmly on what comes next.
